Bishop Vincent E. Mathews, Jr., who prefers to be called Brother Vincent or Pastor Vincent, emphasizes his identity primarily as a child of God and a brother to the saints. Educated at Wayne State University and the University of Illinois, he also studied as a Fulbright Fellow in Tanzania. An accomplished author of six books and a recipient of numerous awards, his ultimate aspiration is to be acknowledged by God as a good and faithful servant. He is married to Sharon Denise Mathews, and they are blessed with eleven children. Having served in various capacities within the Church Of God In Christ, he moved to South Africa in 2004 to serve as a full-time missionary and later became the Senior Pastor of the rapidly growing Tabernacle Church Of God In Christ in Johannesburg. In 2013, he was consecrated Prelate of the South Africa First Jurisdiction, focusing on apostolic teaching, church growth, and outreach in challenging regions. Appointed as President of COGIC World Missions in 2015, he oversees missionary work in 112 countries. Brother Vincent is also leading church planting efforts in Southaven, Mississippi, aiming to advance the Kingdom of Jesus Christ regionally and globally.
