Elder Thomas Woods
The Promised Land
Born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to devoted, faith-filled parents Thomas and Barbara Woods Sr., Thomas Woods carries forward a legacy steeped in integrity, purpose, and service. He now resides in South Carolina with his wife Marcia—his partner of 24 years—and together they nurture their greatest joy: their children, Mikayla and Jaden.
Thomas is the Founder of Just His LLC, a consultancy built on more than two decades of experience in IT architecture and application development. His expertise has guided corporations and organizations across the Carolinas, marrying technical brilliance with transformational insight.
A graduate of Wofford College, Thomas earned his Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science with distinction, having received the esteemed Jerry Richardson Scholarship. This honor opened doors to summer internships at NASA, IBM, and Verizon Wireless—experiences that further shaped his vision and sharpened his skill. While at Wofford, he poured his energy into leadership and advocacy, serving as President of the African American Association of Students, Co-Director of Transitions, a Student Liaison to the Board of Trustees, and a member of the Presidential Search Committee. Whether leading initiatives or representing his peers, he left a mark. He also earned accolades as a scholar-athlete, including Who’s Who Among American Colleges and Universities, MVP and All-Conference honors in Track & Field, and a three-year starting role for Wofford’s football team. His collaborative work at NASA culminated in a published scientific paper on bridging the gap between Object Orientation and UML.
Outside of his professional and academic achievements, Thomas’s deepest calling lies in ministry and service. As an ordained Elder, he serves under the leadership of Apostle Tommy E. Quick at Promised Land Christian Discipleship Center, where his dedication was recognized with the Servant’s Heart Award from the South Carolina District of Church of God in Christ in 2018. He chairs the board at Promised Land CDC and lends his wisdom to Legacy Christian School and CFADD. His past service includes roles with Black Boys of Distinction and Wofford’s Alumni Executive Committee.
Above all, Thomas takes the greatest pride in knowing that his family walks with Christ. Their united commitment to the Gospel and to the vision of their spiritual house is the heartbeat of his legacy.
