Pastor John Burnside
Emmanuel Tabernacle Ministries
John Burnside was born on February 26, 1963, to Mr. J. C. and Mrs. Bobbie Jean Burnside in Greenville County. He was raised in Travelers Rest S.C. There he had a strong father to teach him. His family attended Shoal Creek Baptist Church and later moved to Golden Grove Baptist Church. The Lord began to move on his heart and there was a stronger desire for the things of God.
He sat under Pastor Jackie Doggett at Star Bethel Church of God in Landrum S.C. then later moved to Abundant Life Church of God under Elder Monty Williams in Spartanburg S.C. It was under this leadership where he recognized and received his calling. Pastor Burnside was saved early on in a tent revival in the early 80’s. Pastor Burnside served in the prison and street ministry. He later moved to Intercessory Christian Church under the leadership of Elder William E. Ford Sr. for 18 years. Through God’s providence, he meets Valerie Denise McBee to be his wife on October 14, 1989. They are the parents of Hannah Elisabeth and Heather Melissa Burnside. Later, He served under the late Bishop Robert Beason at Endtime Harvest Ministries for 16 years as an ordained Elder. After the death of Bishop Beason, Pastor Burnside served as intern pastor for 1 year. In September 2018, Emmanuel Tabernacle Ministries was founded. Pastor Burnside is a faithful dedicated, committed, sold out servant of the Lord who needed a spiritual father and covering.
We believe that it was divine appointment that we met Apostle Tommy E. Quick soon after Emmanuel Tabernacle Ministries was established. Pastor Burnside is a master of many skills, talents, and gifts such as preacher, teacher, pastor, and prophet. He will preach the truth unapologetically. Pastor loves the people of God and has a father’s heart. He says, “it’s all about your relationship with God and your relationship with people”. Proverbs 22:1 says, “A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, loving favor rather than silver and gold”. Pastor Burnside attended Martin Webb Seminary briefly. He is a man given to prayer, study of the Word and seeking the face of God. It takes a wise man willing to trust the Lord, preach the Gospel, to be obedient and to want to work with willing people to build ministry. It also takes focus to preach and teach a relevant Word. Pastor Burnside understands the times and knows what to do. It’s the genesis of a thing; church order is a mandate. One of his favorite passages of scripture is Isaiah 46:10 and 11, “Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure: Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executeth my counsel from a far country: yea, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it”. Today Emmanuel Tabernacle Ministries is under the Spartanburg Christian Discipleship Center at The Promised Land and Christian Families Against Destructive Decisions (CFADD) led by Apostle Tommy E. Quick. If there is question, there is a biblical answer. Pastor Burnside is a voice that the Lord has called for such a time as this and it’s his job to preach and teach, but it’s God’s job to do the work.
Proverbs 16:9 says, “A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps”.
